• It is good ideas to know what “TYPE” you are going for.  It helps me do my job.  It helps you do your job the day of the shoot.  If you don’t know, your agent or manager should have more of an idea….
  • If you don’t have an agent or manager, I may be able to make some referrals.
  • It is always OK to have your agent or manager call or email me with any concerns regarding your photo shoot.

WARDROBE:

  • Please see my website (www.rackedfocus.com)
  • Bright, solid colors are great.  Colors that pop and compliment the eyes and skin are always best.  If you have blue or green eyes, bring VARIOUS SHADES of blue and green…  If you have brown eyes, brown is a good color, but the various shades of blue, green and red can work also.
  • MEDIUM TO DARKER SHADES OF GREEN, BLUE, RED, BURGUNDY, RUST MAROON, YELLOW ARE ALWAYS GREAT
  • A little pattern is OK.  I know you’ve heard no patterns or logos, but don’t be too scared to bring a lightly patterned shirt.  A lot of times, these sort of shirts work well with the solid t-shirt you are going to bring.
  • I love to layer looks.  So, bring clothes that we can layer (jean jacket, other types of over coats, open shirts etc)
  • Stay away from “soft” pastel colors.  It’s ok if it’s on the darker end of the spectrum when it comes to pastel colors. The lighter pastels make the skin look too pale.  Colors like white, yellow, and pink tend to over-power the face and make the subject took too pale also.  Additionally, stay away from WHITE, GRAY and BLACK. (It may be good to layer with, so go ahead and bring it, but don't expect it to be a primary choice.)
  • BRING ENOUGH TO CHOOSE FROM (if you’re in doubt, bring it) always better to have too much, than not enough.  Give me 3 or 4 options for every look we say we’re going to do….  If we are only doing 2 looks, bring me 6 – 8 wardrobe changes so I can choose what works best…  I CAN’T STRESS THIS ENOUGH – GIVE ME OPTIONS!!!!
  • Keep Jewelry to a minimum.  Bring it, but don’t come wearing it.
  •  DO NOT wear sunglasses the day of the shoot (this prevents squinting)
  • If you are playing younger, dress younger.  If you are to play 12 – 16, then dress that way for the photo shoot.  Don’t show too much skin if you’re playing a child (under 18).  If you’re going for the older, sexy look then skin is ok.  Any more questions on this topic, you can call me or talk to your agent or manager.  Dress on the more conservative end of the age range you will play.

NOTES FOR MALE ACTORS:

  • If you’re a young boy (12 – 17) avoid clothes that will make you look like you’re in your 30’s.  No sports coats, blazers, etc.  When was the last time you saw a 14 year old wearing a sports coat?  Bring it, but don’t rely on it.
  • Be careful with shaving.  IF you tend to get razor burn after shaving, shave the night before.  Also, know if you want a little stubble, or no stubble or a little of both.

HAIR AND MAKE UP:

  • Keep make up simple for adults.  If you are the “sexy” type, still come with your make up simple to none and we will “progress” to the sexier look with more make up.
  • CHILDREN SHOULD HAVE NO MAKE UP!!!!
  • If you plan on making any major hair adjustments or shaving during the shoot, please let me know in advance.
  • PLEASE LET ME KNOW IN ADVANCE IF YOU WOULD LIKE ME TO HIRE MY MAKE UP ARTIST (an additional $50-$100 for make up)

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

  • Don’t do anything drastic (get a tan or pop pimples) prior to a shoot.  Avoid too much sun, a couple of days before the shoot.
  • Please be on time.  It doesn’t take very long to do a headshot session.  But, I do set up my times so I have the best possible light to get the best possible results.
  • If you cannot make the session for one reason or another, Call me as soon as you know.  I do understand that things come up, but be courteous of my time and I will be courteous of yours.

If you have any thing else to add, questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.  I’m always open to discussing anything you need.

Also, if need be, I can call your agent and/or manager to discuss further regarding your headshot…

Sincerely,
Nasim
